PRESS RELEASE
REGISTRATION OF AMATEUR COMPETITIVE MEMBERS
The Ballroom Dancers’ Federation is pleased to announce it’s new initiative , the
Registration of Amateur Competitive Members. This is our plan to give all Amateur
Competition Dancers , including Junior , Juvenile and Senior Competitors over all
grades an alternative voice in the British dance Business.
It is envisaged that our new Amateur Competitive Members will have direct
representation to the Officers and Executive Committee of the BDF and therefore to
the British Dance Council (The BDF is a Corporate member of that body).
The Ballroom Dancers Federation has, since its foundation in 1958, been the most
active and vociferous Organization in support of Dancers , Adjudicators and
Organisers throughout the world. It is a non-profit Organisation whose Officers and
Executive Committee members give their time , for no personal financial gain, to
promote the interests of all facets of the Dance World and has had Amateur members
since the 1960’s.
Besides organizing many of the major Dance events in the British dance Calendar, it
also organizes Congresses and operates a sponsored Youth training scheme providing
group training for our top Youth couples.
Anyone who attended the Free Congress at the British National Championships in
November 2009 will have witnessed the efforts made by the BDF to further the
interests of all who are interested in our wonderful world of dance. The National
Congress, is I am pleased to announce being repeated again in 2010 and entrance
will be free to all. There are also plans in the pipeline to extend the training schemes
to BDF amateur competitive members depending on the success of this initiative.
This scheme is not a fund raising exercise by the BDF as you will only be asked to pay
a registration fee of £5.00 per person which will cover the administration of your
membership. The remaining funds raised will all be utilized to provide training days for
its Amateur members. This registration will entitle each member to attend the Annual
General Meeting of the Federation (without due voting rights to full members) and
also to utilize the voice of the BDF on matters that directly affect our Amateur
members. Any Amateur wishing to enjoy the benefits of Full membership may do so
by paying a Full membership subscription.
